Antony has been linked with a move to Premier League holders Manchester City amidst the transfer rumours on the long-term future of Algerian international RiyadMahrez at the club.

22-year-old Antony has grown to become one of the most exciting attacking midfielders in European football since moving to Ajax Amsterdam in February 2020. The Ajax winger played his part as five-time world champions secured their place in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament later this year by winning the South American region as far as the qualifiers for the World Cup tournament are concerned. Antony has two goals and one assist in nine games for Brazil in the World Cup 2022 qualifiers. His second goal for Brazil came in the win over Paraguay in February. Apart from Antony and Brazil, Uruguay, Ecuador and Argentina are also going to the World Cup in Qatar, while Peru could still join them to make it five South American teams if they are able to navigate the inter-confederation playoffs. It must be pointed out that Antony and Brazil have one game left in the qualifiers and that’s the abandoned home clash with arch rivals Argentina.
