Ajax player moves to Brighton on a three-year contract

 

Premier League club Brighton have signed Ajax footballer Joel Veltman. They signed the player for a three-year deal. The Premier League club concluded the transfer for £900,000,which was the amount stated in his release clause.

Brighton head coach Graham Potter has praised the player for his potential and his performance at club level as well as international level. He is delighted to have a player like him on the team as he had given terrific performance for the Dutch club and have also played in the Champions League.

Veltman makes up a good defender as he can play in right back and also in centre half.He is comfortable in holding up the ball too. Veltman is the product of Ajax’s youth academy systemand has been playing in the club for the past 19 years. He made his debut for Ajax on 2012 and since has made 200 appearances for the club. He has scored ten goals for the club in this time period. During his time with Ajax, he has won four Eredivisie titles and has been a permanent presence in Champions League.

Veltman has also been on the Netherlands national team and has earned 22 caps with the team. His recent game was against Northern Ireland in November helping the team qualifying for Euro 2021.

The Dutch player will be wearing No.34 jersey as a tribute to former Ajax teammateAbdelhak Nouri who collapsed during in friendly match on 2017 and has been in a coma since then.

Everyone knows what happened to Appie. He was a friend of everyone, we all love him and still do which is why when Ajax celebrates a goal they show the No 34. A lot of his old team-mates have this number and I know he would be very proud that I am going to the Premier League,” said Veltman.
